Coming up for air

If you only follow me on here you'll probably have noticed by now that my postings are, at best, sporadic. It's easy to update Twitter with just a quick login or a cheeky text whereas a bit more thought needs to go in to a blog post. Having said that, my last Twitter update was four days ago. Thinking time isn't something I've had much of over the last few weeks. In the run-up to this year's Freshers' week myself and my colleagues have been busy preparing the shop for the influx of new and returning students to the university. Deliveries, cleaning, preparing all the systems - and ourselves - for the semi-organised chaos that is Freshers. Thankfully all our hard work appears to be paying off nicely. Right now I'm relaxed. I've got a cup of coffee beside me with wine to follow later. My boyfriend and I are watching Strictly Come Dancing in stunning high definition and a lasagne's semi-prepared for cooking later. Relaxed is definitely my word of the moment. So what's coming up for me in the coming week? Things start getting in to more of a routine from this week. Having said that, Monday is going to be a Fairtrade celebration day with a stall of fairtrade products being set up in the Union. Ideally that needs some decent preparation and, unfortunately, very little has been done by anyone. I'm sure something fabulous will be pulled out of the hat on Monday - watch this space! I've got a little plan up my sleeve for Hallowe'en and I'll also be making a start on a playlist for our Children in Need day. We've agreed that the theme is going to be 1980s with a night out following on straight after work. Fabulous! |
